The Program Churches and other groups all over the country commit to sponsoring the nutrition centers one month of the year by gathering a metric ton, 2,200 pounds, of food along with $800 cash (for water, propane, fruit, and other perishables). Members then come with us to deliver the food to our centers in Tijuana and to meet the children and the women who care for them. In some cases, groups will raise cash--$3,800--to cover the food for the month, when distance is an issue. Churches/groups usually gather food each weekend in the month prior to their visit to Mexico. Some collect food in front of supermarkets or in the workplace.
